GeneSight Testing at Clarksburg Behavioral Health

GeneSight Testing: A Personalized Approach to Psychiatric Medication Management

At Clarksburg Behavioral Health, we offer GeneSight testing as part of our personalized approach to psychiatric medication management. GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that looks at certain genes that may influence how your body responds to specific mental health medications. This information may help your provider make more informed treatment decisions, especially if you have experienced medication side effects, difficulty finding the right medication, or limited improvement with previous treatment.

The test is simple and noninvasive, typically completed with a cheek swab. Once results are available, your provider reviews them along with your symptoms, treatment history, medical background, and clinical needs to guide medication planning. GeneSight testing is one tool among many that can support a more individualized treatment approach.

Who may benefit from GeneSight testing?
GeneSight testing may be helpful for individuals who:

  • have had side effects from psychiatric medications
  • have tried medications that did not work well
  • want a more personalized approach to medication selection
  • are beginning treatment and want additional clinical guidance

Important note
GeneSight testing does not replace a psychiatric evaluation or clinical judgment. It is used as part of a broader treatment plan developed by your provider.
